“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you ask the Father in my name, He may give you.”—Jesus’ words in John 15:16.
As we try to do each spring and fall, it’s time for an update from our ministry. God has blessed our ministry richly with friends and partners who have supported YKPM with their prayers and financial backing.
Jon's recent mission trip to Costa Rica
Our ministry all began with building a church in the indigenous tribal region of Costa Rica, in the village of Shiroles for the Bribri people. Jon was blessed to revisit our friends at the church pastored by Xinia Aguirre and her husband Helio, while accompanying a team of Charis Bible College students in February.
Just as Jon’s trip to Costa Rica during his second year as a CBC student in 2017 opened his eyes to the needs of ministers and churches in Costa Rica, he was able to share the vision with mission team members. Jon was privileged to be part of the host crew with Pastor Douglas Rossman, who heads up efforts on the ground in Central America for YKPM.
Twenty-four students, a Charis intern and staff member traveled to Costa Rica to share the love of God and the Gospel message of grace with the people of the country.
One evening on the trip, the team was privileged to be part of the first ever service of a brand new church headed by Carla Campbell, who Jon has known since his first trip there.
Coming away from that trip, Your Kingdom Purpose Ministries felt compelled to assist Carla and her tiny new church family by facilitating the start-up church with chairs, tables, a sound system and other physical needs. It was an awesome opportunity to seed efforts to spread the Gospel.
Medical equipment drive enters fourth year
Our long-time relationship with Pastor John Sullivan, Cristian Cruz and the team at Zihuatanejo Christian Mission (ZCM) has drawn us into a fourth year of collecting wheelchairs, walkers and other medical equipment provided to their ministry in Mexico. The use of the wheelchairs is for people who are otherwise bedridden or limited in their mobility.
Last year, with the help of many friends, we collected 48 wheelchairs, 44 walkers and other supplies destined for their work in senior living facilities in Zihuatanejo. Additionally, backpacks for kids in nearby orphanages became a part of the project as well over the last couple of years.
Our wheelchair drive is on again for this year and as of this writing we’re well on our way to matching last year’s collection total. Your Kingdom Purpose Ministries will also be supplying ZCM with school supplies, toys and other items for stuffing the backpacks for the kids for this coming Christmas.
Finally, YKPM is providing hundreds of Bibles of all sorts for needs of every type: kids Bibles, teen versions, large print, etc. And, for those pastors in the area down there who are on the go serving their members and others, they will be receiving portable communion kits to be able to serve the Lord’s Supper to shut-ins and those not attending services.
You are invited to join our efforts
Thanks to your prayers and financial support, we see God’s Word being spread further south of the border to our neighbors in Central America and Mexico.—Jon & Melva Rand
