YKPM Sows Seed into Pastor Friend's Wheelchair Ministry for Mexican Nursing Home Residents
Several years ago, Jon and Melva met and began supporting the ministry of pastor and friend, John Sullivan. John ministers to the poor in Zihuantanejo, Mexico. For some time now, Pastor John has made an appeal to them to help supply him with wheelchairs that he could transport into Mexico in order to serve the nursing home residents to whom he ministers.
Through YKPM, the Rands made it their summer 2020 “mission” to gather wheelchairs and walkers for this ministry. By the time John passed through their area with his truck to pick up what they had collected, they were able to supply him with 11 wheelchairs and several walkers.
It was both a challenge to collect the medical equipment and a thrill to be able to see him load up his truck to the brim.
Not only did YKPM send him off with the equipment, but they also sent him along with what they call “Melva Treats”—her normal supply of reading glasses, toys and gifts for children and so much more.
YKPM also supplied John with funds to register the truck in Mexico and to bring the supplies through the border.
In addition, YKPM gifted his ministry $1,500 to buy high-end Spanish study Bibles for students they tutor. These are awarded to the students as they graduate the course.
YKPM has survived these past three years due to God’s goodness and the backing of people who know Jon and Melva or who have responded to their newsletters.
They have been humbled by that support and are thankful for being entrusted, in their own small way, to play a part in expanding the Kingdom of God in Central America, and this one in Mexico.
Some ministries, such as Andrew Wommack’s and the Rand’s church in Boise, have sown into YKPM. In turn, Jon and Melva believe it is only right to sow into the ministry of others.
Second Corinthians 9 talks about “God giving seed to the sower,” and YKPM can attest that their sowing comes back into their ministry in spades.
